A driver has reached a tentative settlement in his negligence suit against “Succession” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” actor Alan Ruck, in which the plaintiff alleged he was severely injured in a 2023 collision.

Attorneys for Horacio Vela filed court papers on Monday with Santa Monica Superior Court Judge Susan Bryant-Deason notifying her of a “conditional” resolution in the case with the expectation a request for dismissal will be brought by Feb. 6. No terms were revealed.

“The matter has been resolved through a mutually agreed settlement,” said one of Vela’s attorneys, Houman Sayaghi, in a statement Wednesday. “We appreciate Mr. Ruck’s cooperation. We are pleased that our client received the justice he deserved and can put this behind him.”

In April, Judge Lisa Jaskol signed an order rescheduling the start of trial from June 5 to Nov. 5 in order to facilitate a possible settlement.

In their previous court papers, Ruck’s attorneys said two other people came forward in January and February claiming to also have been injured in the Oct. 31, 2023, accident, but that neither had sued. Although neither of those people sued, Ruck invited all three to attend a private mediation to discuss a possible resolution of all parties’ claims.

In his suit brought in December 2023, Vela alleged that Ruck “abruptly and forcefully accelerated” his truck while stopped at a red light at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.

Ruck’s truck struck the rear bumper of Vela’s car, knocking him into another vehicle in the intersection, the suit stated. Ruck’s truck then hit yet another vehicle before smashing into a nearby pizzeria, according to the suit.

Vela was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in an ambulance and his car was totaled, according to the suit.

After the crash, Ruck told TMZ, “I’m fine and thank God nobody was killed.”

Ruck’s insurance company, State Farm, has “ghosted us for weeks despite repeated calls and letters seeking to work out an amicable settlement,” according to a previous statement by Neama Rahmani, one of the plaintiff’s lawyers.

Ruck, 69, had his first film role in the 1983 drama “Bad Boys,” in which he played Carl Brennan, acting alongside Sean Penn. He portrayed the character Connor Roy on “Succession” and Cameron Frye in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
