Netflix’s crime story “The Perfect Neighbor” and National Geographic’s underseas exploration “Ocean with David Attenborough” were among the nominees announced Tuesday for the Producers Guild of America Award for documentary motion pictures.

Also earning nods were HBO’s “The Alabama Solution” and “My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay,” Netflix’s “Cover-Up,” Made in Copenhagen’s “Mr. Nobody Against Putin,” and National Geographic’s “The Tale of Silyan.”

The winner will be announced during the 37th annual Producers Guild Awards on Feb. 28 at the Fairmont Century Plaza.

The PGA on Tuesday also announced the finalists for the guild’s Innovation Award, which honors “exceptional distinctiveness, inventiveness, and impact in expanding the conventions of program format, content, audience interaction, production technique and delivery.”

The finalists for the honor are “ASTEROID,” “Big Wave: No Room for Error,” “D-Day: The Camera Soldier,” “territory” and “The Wizard of Oz at Sphere.”

The winner will be announced during a Feb. 26 reception in Los Angeles.

Producers Guild Award nominations for sports, children’s and short-form programming will be announced Friday. Nominees in the motion picture, television and streaming categories will be announced Jan. 9.

The PGA honor for theatrical motion pictures is traditionally a strong indicator of which film will win the best picture Oscar. Since the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences expanded from five to 10 nominees in 2010, only four films have won the best picture Oscar without first winning the PGA Award. Earlier this year, both honors went to “Anora.”
