“One Battle After Another,” “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet” and “Sinners” were among the films scoring nominations Friday for the coveted Producers Guild of America Award for theatrical motion pictures, an honor that typically leads to a best-picture victory on Oscar night.
Also nominated for the guild’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures were “Bugonia,” “F1,” “Marty Supreme,” “Sentimental Value,” “Train Dreams” and “Weapons.’
The PGA honor for theatrical motion pictures is traditionally a strong indicator of which film will win the best picture Oscar. Since the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences expanded from five to 10 nominees in 2010, only four films have won the best picture Oscar without first winning the PGA Award. Last year, both honors went to “Anora.”
According to the PGA, 17 of the previous 22 winners of the guild’s motion award have won the best picture prize at the Oscars.
The PGA Awards will be held Feb. 28 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Century City.
PGA nominations for animated motion pictures went to “The Bad Guys 2,” “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” “Elio,” “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Zootopia 2.”
On the small screen, drama television series nominations went to “Andor,” “The Diplomat,” “The Pitt,” “Pluribus,” “Severance” and “The White Lotus.” Nominated for comedy series honors were “The Bear,” “Hacks,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “South Park” and “The Studio.”
Nominations for documentary films, and sports, children’s and short-form programming were announced last month.
