Two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Ang Lee will receive the American Cinema Editors’ Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award at the 76th annual ACE Eddie Awards next month, the organization announced Wednesday.
Lee, whose films include “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Brokeback Mountain” and “Life of Pi,” joins a list of past Golden Eddie honorees that includes Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, John Waters, Quentin Tarantino and Guillermo del Toro.
“Ang Lee’s exploration of our most closely held emotions has ignited an international passion for cinema for over 30 years,” ACE President Sabrina Plisco said in a statement.
“The breadth of his filmography is unparalleled, ranging from the intimate and boundary-breaking romance of `Brokeback Mountain,’ to the epic drama of `Life of Pi’ and `Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,’ to even the pre-MCU Marvel film `Hulk.”’
Kim Larson, managing director and head of YouTube’s creator and gaming team, will receive the ACE Visionary Award, while editor and director Arthur Forney and editor Robert Leighton will be honored with career achievement awards.
The ceremony will be held Feb. 27 at UCLA’s Royce Hall, where winners will also be announced in 14 competitive categories recognizing outstanding film and television editing.
Nominations will be announced next Tuesday.
American Cinema Editors is an honorary society founded in 1950 to advance the art and craft of film editing and to recognize excellence in the field.
