Actress Yerin Ha has been named ambassador for the 32nd Annual Actor Awards ceremony next month, SAG-AFTRA announced Thursday.
Ha, a Korean-Australian actress, stars as Sophie Baek in the fourth season of Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” becoming the first East Asian actress to lead the series. Her television credits also include Netflix’s “The Survivors,” HBO’s “Dune: Prophecy” and Paramount+’s “Halo.” She recently made her United Kingdom theater debut in Jean Genet’s “The Maids” at London’s Donmar Warehouse.
Ha was selected for the ambassador role for “exemplifying the values of the acting profession, serving as a role model for emerging performers and using her platform to support humanitarian and public service efforts,” according to organizers.
“Being named The Actor Awards Ambassador is such an honor because this ceremony is about actors celebrating actors,” Ha said in a statement. “There is something uniquely powerful about being recognized within your own community. As someone who cares so deeply about the craft and about collaboration, it means so much to represent the next generation of actors and be part of an event that uplifts storytelling.”
As The Actor Awards ambassador, she will attend the Actors Rising event highlighting emerging performers. She will also provide fans with behind-the-scenes access to the ceremony, participate in select pre-show events and help raise awareness for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, organizers said.
Actress and producer Kristen Bell will host the The Actor Awards — previously known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The ceremony will be held March 1 at the Shrine Auditorium, streaming live on Netflix.
