An exhibit celebrating legendary comedy duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy will open Thursday evening at the Hollywood Museum, marking 100 years of laughter from one of cinema’s most iconic teams.
The exhibit, titled “Laurel and Hardy: Masters of Comedy,” will feature an extensive collection of original costumes, props and memorabilia from the pair’s film career, according to the museum.
Items on display will include costumes from films such as “Way Out West,” “Bonnie Scotland” and “The Bull Fighter,” along with props from productions including “Brats” and “Sons of the Desert.”
Also featured in the exhibit will be Stan Laurel’s personal makeup case, the pair’s iconic bowler hats, original movie posters, scripts, vintage photographs and rare merchandise tied to their films and careers, museum officials said.
“We are thrilled to showcase the entertainment contributions of one of the most popular and iconic film comedy teams of all time, Laurel and Hardy,” museum Founder and President Donelle Dadigan said in a statement.
An opening event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the museum, with red carpet arrivals beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a program set for 7:15 p.m.
The event is expected to draw entertainers, historians and relatives of the comedy duo, including Laurel’s great-granddaughter, museum officials said.
