Torrance residents could hear a strange siren Thursday morning as the city tests its newly installed outdoor emergency alert notification system.
The city plans to test the Torrance Neighborhood Outdoor Warning Sirens, or TorranceNOW, at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The warning system includes a siren, chimes and even voice announcements designed to alert the public in the event of a major emergency.
TorranceNOW sirens are located at all six city fire stations, the Southeast Library at 23115 Arlington Ave. and at the corner of Lomita Boulevard and Madison Street.
