A 37-year-old man who was fatally struck by a wrong-way, hit-and-run driver while riding a bicycle in the Florence-Graham area of South Los Angeles was identified Friday.

Julio Castellon was struck around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 7900 block of Alameda Street near Broadway, according to the county Department of Medical Examiner and California Highway Patrol.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the CHP, the motorist drove onto the sidewalk and struck the bicyclist, then fled without stopping to render aid.

“We are treating this as a hit and run,” CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

There was no vehicle or suspect description.
