A man walking on an off-ramp of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway near downtown Los Angeles was killed by a construction van Saturday.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the westbound freeway at the San Pedro Street off-ramp, where they learned the pedestrian was struck near the bottom of the freeway off-ramp by the van, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s office the deceased was a 57-year-old man who died from traumatic injuries in what was deemed a suicide.
