A speeding motorcyclist was taken into custody in Baldwin Park Friday afternoon after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a brief but dangerous chase that saw the bike topping 120 miles per hour.

The chase began about 12:25 p.m. Friday in the area of the Pomona (60) Freeway and Diamond Bar Boulevard in Diamond Bar, and ended at 12:36 p.m. on Garvey Avenue near Puente Avenue, according to a CHP spokeswoman.

According to a broadcast report, the bike hit speeds of over 120 mph, and the suspect jumped a curb and rode on the sidewalk before being cornered and giving up the chase.
