A man killed in a hit-and-run collision on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic was publicly identified Saturday, as the investigation continued.

Alejandro Covarrubias, 22, died at the scene from blunt force injuries in an accident, the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner said.

California Highway Patrol officers responded at 11:22 p.m. Friday to the southbound freeway and the Lake Hughes Road off-ramp where they learned a white semi-truck collided with a white Toyota Corolla, CHP Officer Sergio Gacia told City News Service.

The driver of the semi fled and did not stop to render aid to the victim, the CHP said.

The CHP closed the Lake Hughes Road off-ramp while officers investigated the collision scene.
