A 55-hour extended weekend lane reduction continues Sunday on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Whittier.
Up to two southbound lanes will be closed from until 11 p.m. Sunday, according to Caltrans
The southbound 605 will be reduced to one lane from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, when all southbound lane closures will end.
As for ramps, the eastbound and westbound Beverly Boulevard on-ramps to the southbound 605 and the eastbound and westbound Whittier Boulevard on-ramps to southbound 605 will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday.
Additionally, the southbound 605 Whittier Boulevard off-ramp will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday.
More 55-hour extended weekend lane reductions are scheduled through the remainder of 2026, Caltrans said.
“Demolition of old freeway lane concrete occurs on Friday nights,” authorities said in a statement. “Residents and businesses located in this area may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with demolition activities.”
The work is part of the $260 million Super 605 freeway corridor projects to rehabilitate the freeway from Long Beach to the San Gabriel Valley.
