President Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump is taking hits on social media Tuesday after posting video of her shopping at the new Erewhon store in Santa Monica.
The reaction to the video featuring the 18-year-old golfer who reportedly earns $1 million a year through endorsements, has not been kind, with some comparing the teenager with Marie Antoinette.
After running up a $233 bill for a single bag of items, including a $21 Hailey Bieber smoothie, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. is seen outside what appears the Wilshire Boulevard Erewhon store, which is known for pricey, but delicious healthy food.
“I’m like, I’m about to go bankrupt with stuff,” the President’s eldest granddaughter said at one point in a video posted to social media. “I’m going to need to file for bankruptcy.”
In the light-hearted video, entitled, “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon,” Kai Trump calls the business “the most expensive grocery store pretty much out there.” Some comments said she was tone deaf to post the YouTube video during a time when food and fuel are increasingly expensive for average Americans and a war is being waged in Iran.
Some commenters suggested she be drafted into the U.S. military.
The newest Erewhon store in the Los Angeles area, on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, opened with fanfare and freebies on Feb. 25.
