Firefighters Saturday stopped the forward progress of a grass fire that was burning near homeless encampments in the Pico-Union community of Los Angeles.

Firefighters dispatched at 11:23 a.m. Saturday to 112 N. Bridewell St., along the Arroyo Seco (110) Parkway, had the estimated 20-foot-by-20-foot area of the fire’s forward progress stopped in approximately 30 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The initial report of fire came at about 11:20 a.m. by the California Highway Patrol, who reported smoke coming from the Arroyo Seco area, near the northbound 110 Freeway at York Boulevard.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
