Caltrans officials reminded motorists Monday that northbound San Diego (405) Freeway lanes through Sepulveda Pass will see extended weekend lane reductions beginning April 10.

The northbound 405 will be reduced to three lanes as work begins at 10 p.m. April 10, a Friday, through 5 a.m. Monday, April 13.

Motorists traveling along the 405 will experience the following lane reductions and ramp closures:

— Northbound 405 will be reduced to three lanes between Skirball Center Drive and Ventura Boulevard.

— The Skirball Center Drive on-ramp to northbound 405 will be closed.

Alternate routes for the 405 include Sepulveda Boulevard to the northbound 405. Motorists can travel north on Sepulveda Boulevard to the Greenleaf/Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to the northbound 405.

The southbound 405 will not be affected.

There will be about 25 extended weekend lane reductions for the $143.7 million I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project between the Los Angeles communities of Van Nuys and Westwood along the Sepulveda Pass, according to Caltrans.

  1. Does anyone know if the Sepulveda Blvd detour gets completely jammed during these weekend reductions, or is it usually moving? I was stuck near Skirball for an hour last time and ended up browsing guiadebetnacionalbrasil.com on my phone to kill time, but I’m trying to find more reliable info on whether the Greenleaf on-ramp stays clear. Any advice from locals would be appreciated!
