National Public Health Week begins Monday, and Los Angeles County officials will be hosting a series of events focused on community health and emergency preparedness.
The observance runs through Sunday and is part of a nationwide effort highlighting the role of public health in improving community well-being. This year’s theme is “Ready. Set. Action!”
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will host events throughout the week addressing topics including emergency preparedness, children’s health, small business support and worker protections.
“The past year has been challenging, yet together, we have continued to advance health and well-being across our communities,” Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said in a statement.
“As we mark National Public Health Week, we uplift the dedication, skill, and commitment of everyone in our public health family. Every day, their efforts make a real difference, helping our communities thrive, stay safe, and secure resources needed for well-being.”
The following events are scheduled:
— Monday, “Emergency Preparedness: Be Prepared, Have a Plan, Take Action!” 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Rowland Heights Park, 1500 Bañida Ave., Rowland Heights;
— Tuesday, “Rewriting L.A. County’s Story — Community Event,” noon to 2 p.m., Pueblo y Salud Palmdale Office, 39130 Third St., East Palmdale;
— Wednesday, Public Health in 2026: “Building Healthy Communities & Sustaining the Safety Net,” 5 to 7 p.m., Cal State Los Angeles, 5151 State University Drive;
— Thursday, “A Taste of Possibilities: Resources for Small Food Businesses,” 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Ted Watkins Memorial Park Gymnasium, 1335 E. 103rd St., Los Angeles;
— Friday, “Health with Heart: Community Health Workers in Action,” 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, 12645 Wadsworth Ave., Los Angeles;
— Friday, “Empowering, Engaging, & Acknowledging Fathers!” 6 to 8 p.m., Valley Presbyterian Hospital, 15107 Vanowen St., Van Nuys; and
— Saturday, “Spring Health Fair with Los Nietos,” 9 a.m. to noon, Los Nietos Middle School, 11425 Rivera Road, Whittier.
Officials said the events are designed to promote prevention, expand access to resources and support healthier, more resilient communities.
