A SigAlert remained in effect Thursday morning for the closure of two lanes on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina following a chemical spill.
A tractor-trailer leaked an unknown chemical around 3:01 p.m. Wednesday, prompting the closure of the 3 and 4 lanes on the San Bernardino Freeway from Pacific Ave to Vincent Ave, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.
Caltrans crews, assisted by a health hazmat team from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were working, to clean up the “unknown substance,” a CHP officer said.
Eastbound traffic was backed up to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway as the Thursday morning commute began.
