Caltrans Wednesday announced intermittent full closures of Agoura Road between Rondell Street and Hydepark Drive in Agoura Hills through Nov. 30, to accommodate ongoing construction of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.
The closures, which will allow crews to complete bridge work and backfill operations as part of the project’s expedited construction schedule, will occur intermittently between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, as needed for construction activities, according to Caltrans.
“Weekend construction activities may also occur periodically throughout the project,” the agency stated. “Any associated road or ramp closures on weekends will be announced in advance.”
No through traffic of any kind, including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, will be permitted from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the closures, which will be suspended for Wednesday’s Veterans Day holiday.
Motorists will have to use detours and should anticipate delays. As for ramps, the Liberty Canyon Road on- and off-ramps to and from both sides of the Ventura (101) Freeway may be closed periodically for construction activities.
The ramps will not be closed at the same time and ramp closures will be scheduled separately from the Agoura Road closure to ensure access through the area is maintained.
As a detour, motorists can use the 101 Freeway between Chesebro and Liberty Canyon roads.
Detour signage will be posted along the route and free shuttle service will be operate every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the scheduled closure dates for pedestrians and cyclists to get around the closed section of Agoura Road.
The eastbound shuttle pick-up location will be at Dorothy Drive and Chesebro Road. The drop-off location will be at Liberty Canyon and Agoura Road.
The westbound shuttle pick-up location will be at Liberty Canyon and Agoura Road, with the drop-off location at Dorothy Drive and Chesebro Road.
Bus stops will be relocated during the full closure.
