A man who tried to stop two taggers from defacing property in Anaheim was stabbed and beaten, and was hospitalized Monday in critical condition.

The assault was at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South Stinson Street, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Jonathan Yepes.

A man in a pickup truck saw two juveniles or men painting graffiti on an apartment so he got out of his truck to intervene, Yepes said.

He was stabbed multiple times and beaten, the sergeant said. He was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was in critical condition.

The suspects fled east on Lincoln Avenue in a newer model four-door dark blue Nissan sedan.

Police asked anyone with information to contact them at (714) 765-1900.
