A 25-year-old man was shot and wounded in Fullerton, but his injuries were not life threatening, police said.

Officers responded Tuesday to a shots fired call in the area of Highland Avenue and Valencia Drive, according to Fullerton Police Sgt. Jon Radus.

The victim was located, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, and was taken to a hospital, Radus said.

“Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was in the area of 800 S. Highland Ave. when he was shot by unknown suspects,” Radus said. “The suspects then fled in an unknown direction. Detectives believe the shooting may have been gang-related.”

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call Fullerton police at (714) 738-6757 to speak with gang Detective Valle.
