LA’s CicLAvia street festivals closed out their 2025 calendar with something different Sunday — joining forces with Netflix’s smash hit “Stranger Things” to celebrate the show’s final season.
“Netflix x CicLAvia – Melrose Ave: Stranger Things 5 One Last Ride” took place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Melrose Avenue was closed to electric vehicle traffic between Vermont and Fairfax avenues. Attendees were invited to explore the neighborhood by walking, jogging, biking, roller skating, and of course patronizing local businesses.
“This epic event is bringing fans together to bike, skate, or stroll along a car-free stretch of Melrose Ave in celebration of the cultural phenomenon’s finale season. For one day only, the street will be re-imagined as Hawkins itself, where the familiar collides with the mysteries of the Upside Down and fans come together for one last adventure,” CicLAvia officials said.
“We’re going full 1980s! You can show up as your favorite Hawkins character or monster of the Upside Down or channel peak ’80s vibes with neon, leg warmers, windbreakers, or any totally awesome retro fit.”
Although electric vehicles were prohibited, motorized wheelchairs and related vehicles for people with disabilities were allowed, as were Class 1 pedal-assisted e-bikes, Class 2 e-bikes when the throttle was powered off, and Class 3 e-bikes when pedal-assist was powered off.
CicLAvia is a non-profit organization that has been operating the regular street festivals throughout the Los Angeles area since 2010. Sunday’s event was the 64th CicLAvia.

“Stranger Things” began airing on Netflix in 2016 and became an instant hit, quickly growing into a cultural phenomenon. Set in the 1980s, it stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown and others, and concerns a group of young friends in an Indiana suburb who witness supernatural occurrences and get involved in trying to solve the mystery while occasionally battling with government officials.
Its fifth and final season will begin streaming on Nov. 26.
