Forecasters Saturday predicted a slight cooling trend for the rest of the weekend and into Monday, but warmer conditions are expected to return by the middle of next week with additional periods of Santa Ana winds.
Saturday’s highs reached 86 in the downtown Riverside and Temecula areas, 83 in Hemet and the Coachella Valley and 82 in Palm Springs. On Sunday and Monday, forecasters expected slightly cooler temperatures in the low 80s throughout the county.
“In addition to the slightly cooler conditions, the marine layer will begin to rebuild. Local high resolution guidance is indicating a coastal eddy will develop Sunday night into Monday morning, which will increase the chances of coastal low clouds and fog developing,” the National Weather Service said.
By Wednesday, temperatures were expected to go back up to the mid-80s in the downtown Riverside, Temecula, Coachella Valley and Palm Springs areas. Hemet was expected to be slightly cooler with a high of 82 by Wednesday.
“With the upper level ridge in place over the West Coast, a surface high is expected to form over the Great Basin for the middle to end of the week. This will bring another period of Santa Ana winds,” the NWS announced.
By next weekend, temperatures were expected to drop a few more degrees throughout the county.
