The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County resumed increasing Thursday, rising eight-tenths of a cent to $4.627, one day after a 20-day streak of increases ended when it dropped three-tenths of a cent.

The average price rose 26.5 cents during the streak, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is at its highest amount since Dec. 8 and 5 cents more than one week ago and 26.8 higher than one month ago. It is 16.2 cents less than one year ago and has dropped $1.867 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose for the 22nd consecutive day, increasing 1.3 cents to $4.561, its highest amount since Dec. 5. It has risen 31.8 cents during the streak, including two-tenths of a cent on Wednesday.

The Orange County average price is 6.4 cents more than one week ago and 33.1 cents more than one month ago, but 19.7 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.898 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The recent increases were the result of the closure of a Northern California refinery, Southern California refinery maintenance and summer blend gasoline production, according to Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

The national average price increased six-tenths of a cent for the second consecutive day to $2.929 after dropping 1.2 cents on Tuesday. It is 1.5 cents less than one week ago, 10.4 cents more than one month ago and 23.5 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $2.087 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
