The average prices of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles and Orange counties recorded their largest increases since Sept. 28, 2023, Friday for the second consecutive day.

The Los Angeles County average price rose 11 cents to $4.99, its highest amount since June 3, 2024, while the Orange County average price increased 13.5 cents to $4.976, its highest amount since May 28, 2024, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Los Angeles County average price has risen 15 of the past 16 days, increasing 37.1 cents, including 7.9 cents on Thursday. It is 29.8 cents more than one week ago, 50.4 cents higher than one month ago and 25.8 cents greater than one year ago.

The Los Angeles County average price has dropped $1.504 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price has increased 37 consecutive days, rising 73.3 cents, including 9.2 cents on Thursday. It is 34.3 cents more than one week ago, 57.3 cents higher than one month ago and 28.9 cents greater than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.483 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“It’s unknown how long these price spikes will last or how high prices will climb — that will all depend on how long oil supplies remain disrupted,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday.

“Oil prices have increased by about $10 a barrel since last weekend.”

The national average price rose 6.9 cents to $3.32, its highest amount since Sept. 3, 2024. It has risen six consecutive days, increasing 33.8 cents, including 5.3 cents on Thursday.

The national average price is 33.8 cents more than one week ago, 42 cents higher than one month ago and 21 cents greater than one year ago. It has dropped $1.696 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
