The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Saturday for the 25th time in 26 days, decreasing 2.9 cents to $4.429.
The average price has dropped 33.9 cents over the past 26 days, including 2.4 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 13 cents less than one week ago and 28.7 cents less than one month ago, but 12.6 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.944 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“This is the typical time of year when gasoline demand drops, and pump prices usually drop as well in December,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday. “Nationally, the gas price average dropped below $3 a gallon this week for the first time since 2021.”
The national average price dropped for the 15th time in the last 16 days on Saturday, falling 1.5 cents to $2.963. It has dropped 13.7 cents over the past 16 days, including 1.3 cents Friday. It is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 12.1 cents less than one month ago and 6.3 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $2.053 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
