The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Sunday for the 26th time in 27 days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $4.29.

The average price has dropped 40.9 cents over the past 27 days, including 2.8 cents Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 13.3 cents less than one week ago and 41.7 cents less than one month ago, but 2.6 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.083 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Southern California metro area average gas prices are now within five to 15 cents of their lowest levels of the year, which is great news for the record number of local residents who are planning holiday getaways this month,” Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe said in a statement.

“Wholesale Los Angeles gasoline prices are continuing to drop, which should continue the downward trend at the pump,” he added.

The national average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $2.91. It is 4.5 cents less than one week ago, 17 cents less than one month ago and 11.3 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $2.106 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
