A dirt bike rider crashed on a hillside in Jurupa Valley Monday, suffering injuries that required firefighters to mount a rescue operation to extricate him.
The “rider down” call was received at 12:15 p.m. Monday in Jurupa Hills, west of the intersection of Philadelphia and Country Village Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that several engine crews were sent to the location to locate the rider, whose off-road vehicle had apparently overturned.
Firefighters trekked up the hillside and found the victim, identified only as a male, with unspecified minor to moderate injuries
Crews initially believed an all-terrain vehicle would be required to haul the victim down the hill, but it wasn’t necessary. He was carried to an ambulance, which transported him to a Riverside hospital for treatment shortly before 1 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the crash.
