The six-day streak of slight increases to the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County totaling 1.9 cents ended Wednesday when it dropped one-tenth of a cent to $4.141.
The streak of increases followed a five-day streak of decreases totaling 1 cent, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 1.8 cents more than one week ago but 4.3 cents less than one month ago and 21.7 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $2.232 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The run of six increases in seven days totaling 6.6 cents to the national average price ended with a decrease of nine-tenths of a cent to $2.879. It rose three consecutive days, was unchanged Saturday and resumed increasing Sunday.
The run of rising prices follows a run of four decreases in five days totaling 2.2 cents
The national average price is 4.6 cents more than one week ago and 5.1 cents higher than one month ago but 24.1 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.137 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
