Authorities continued investigating Monday the death of a 40-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking in Indio.
The Indio resident was crossing from the right shoulder to the center median on westbound Interstate 10, west of Golf Center Parkway, shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported.
Several lanes were closed following the crash but reopened about 7:57 p.m. the same day.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
