An active shooter response training exercise was underway Tuesday in the unincorporated area of Blythe.
The exercise was at Palo Verde High School at 667 N. Lovekin Blvd., according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The hours of the agency’s training exercise were not immediately known, but authorities advised residents and community members to not be alarmed with the large presence of law enforcement personnel and equipment in the area and emphasized that there was no threat to the public.
“These activities are part of a planned training exercise designed to enhance response capabilities and coordination among participating agencies,” the department stated on social media Tuesday.
