Riverside County supervisors will host a series of workshops next month focused on priorities for the 2026-27 fiscal year budget — and any county resident can participate.

“Building on the success of last year’s workshops, we’re proud to once again bring these conversations into our communities,” county Chief Executive Officer Jeff Van Wagenen said. “These workshops are about making a complex process easier to understand and, more importantly, making sure the people we serve have every opportunity to weigh in on what matters most to them.”

A total of five public gatherings are scheduled, one for each supervisorial district.

They’ll be based on the “Budget 101 Guide,” which delves into how funding for the more than 40 agencies that comprise county government is appropriated. The guide can be found at rivco.gov/budget. The same process was applied during the input-gathering phase that preceded last year’s budget hearings.

“These workshops are about bringing county government directly to the people we serve,” Board of Supervisors Chair Karen Spiegel said.

The county published the following schedule:

— District 2 Workshop, April 7 at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Spiegel, Corona City Council chamber, 400 S. Vicentia Ave.;

— District 1 Workshop, April 8 at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Supervisor Jose Medina, County Administrative Center, board chamber, 4080 Lemon St., Riverside;

— District 5 Workshop, April 21 at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez, Towngate Community Center, 13100 Arbor Park Lane, Moreno Valley;

— District 3 Workshop, April 22 at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Supervisor Chuck Washington, French Valley Library, 31526 Skyview Road, Winchester; and

— District 4 Workshop, April 30 at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Supervisor Manuel Perez, Coachella Valley Water District Administration Building, 75515 Hovley Lane, Palm Desert.

The proposed 2026-27 budget will not be published until the end of May. Hearings are scheduled for the second week of June.

The county is contending with a structural budget deficit for the current fiscal year.
