Forecasters predicted cloudy skies, windy and cooler weather throughout Riverside County next week.

The rest of this weekend was still expected to be warm, with Sunday’s temperatures in the low 90s for western Riverside County and low 100s for eastern areas, according to the National Weather Service.

“By Monday the high pressure aloft will weaken enough to kick off a cooling trend through mid-week. Highs Monday will be 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Sunday for inland locations,” the NWS announced.

Average seasonal temperatures were expected by Wednesday accompanied by cloudy skies and stronger winds.

“Strongest winds are expected Wednesday and Thursday when chances of wind gusts exceeding 45 mph are the highest,” the NWS said.

Precipitation chances continued to trend down in the area, according to the NWS.

“Consensus on timing of any rainfall has increased, with the highest chances centered on Wednesday … even if the highest chance is only 20 percent for the coastal slopes of the mountains. For lower elevations chances of rain are 15 percent or less,” the NWS added.

Thursday was expected to be the coolest day all week with the downtown Riverside area reaching a high of 75, Temecula 72, Hemet 73, Coachella 89 and Palm Springs 84.

By next Saturday, forecasters predicted another uptick in temperatures, with highs in the 80s throughout the county.
