Cathedral City officials will host a virtual meeting Thursday to discuss the progress of the city’s cannabis ordinances and respond to concerns or questions about cannabis odors in the city.
The town hall meeting will take place from 5-6 p.m. via Zoom, with registration available at zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_l9re-y-lSfCHLeuXUaespA#/registration.
In 2024, residents living near cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facilities complained about marijuana odor. According to city documents, the city had more than 500 odor complaints between April and December of that year.
In response, code compliance officials conducted enforcement activities to identify odor sources, and the city enacted a 45-day moratorium on approval of new licenses or permits to cannabis businesses.
In October 2025, an ordinance was adopted that requires all cannabis businesses to submit odor control plans.
City Manager Andy Firestine and Code Compliance Manager Justin Gardiner are among those expected to take part in Thursday’s event.
