A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday when he slammed into a guardrail on a road just south of Temecula.
The fatality occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 44700 block of Rainbow Canyon Road, less than a quarter mile east of Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the rider, whose identity was not immediately released, was traveling at an unconfirmed speed aboard his Harley Davidson when he apparently lost control and crashed into the guardrail, ejecting him onto the side of the road.
No other vehicles were involved.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location a short time later and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The two-lane corridor remained open after the crash, which was under investigation by the CHP. Anyone with information about the accident was asked to contact the agency’s Temecula office at 951-466-4300.
