A motorcyclist who was killed when he slammed into a guardrail on a road just south of Temecula was identified Wednesday as a 21-year-old Vista man.

Francisco Quintana Salazar was fatally injured at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 44700 block of Rainbow Canyon Road, less than a quarter mile east of Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said Salazar was traveling at an unconfirmed speed on his Harley Davidson when he apparently lost control and crashed into the guardrail, ejecting him onto the side of the road.

No other vehicles were involved.

Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location 20 minutes later and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The two-lane corridor remained open after the crash.

An autopsy was pending on Salazar Wednesday.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to contact the CHP’s Temecula office at 951-466-4300.
