Los Angeles Rams safety T.J. McDonald was charged Friday with a misdemeanor DUI charge stemming from his arrest in May following a collision with a parked car in Woodland Hills.
McDonald, 25, is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 7 in a Van Nuys courtroom on one count of driving under the influence of drugs, according to Frank Mateljan of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
McDonald was arrested about 8:30 a.m. May 10 by Los Angeles police after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a parked car in the 22900 block of Gershwin Drive, Los Angeles police said.
He was released later that day on $300 bond, according to jail records.
The Rams issued a statement saying the team is aware of the charge.
“As this is an ongoing legal matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” according to the team.
McDonald was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2013 draft out of USC. He started 11 of the team’s first 12 games in 2015, when it was based in St. Louis, but missed the final four because of a shoulder injury requiring surgery.
McDonald’s father, Tim McDonald, played safety for the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals in 1987-92 and the San Francisco 49ers in 1993-99. He was selected for the Pro Bowl six times. He is now the Buffalo Bills defensive backs coach.
