The Slam Dunk, 3-Point and Shooting Stars competitions will be held Saturday at the Intuit Dome during the NBA All-Star Weekend, with Jaxson Hayes the lone Laker set to compete.

Hayes will be among four players competing in the Slam Dunk contest, facing rookies Carter Bryant (San Antonio Spurs) and Jase Richardson (Orlando Magic) and Miami Heat forward Keshad Johnson, who is in his second season in the league.

The competition will consist of two rounds. In the first round, all four players will attempt two dunks, and the combined score will determine the top two who advance to the final round. Each finalist will then attempt two additional dunks, with the higher combined score determining the champion.

The 7-foot Hayes is the tallest competitor and the lone center. Bryant and Johnson are both 6-foot-6-inch forwards and Richardson a 6-foot-1-inch guard.

Richardson is a son of Jason Richardson the 2002 and 2003 Slam Dunk champion.

The winner will receive $105,000 and the runner-up $55,000. The two competitors who fail to reach the final round will each receive $20,000.

The only Laker to win the Slam Dunk contest was the then-18-year-old Kobe Bryant in 1997.

The Slam Dunk contest will be the last of the day’s three events.

Shooting Stars will be the first competition. It consists of four teams of three players each — two active players and one retired player — competing in a two-round, timed shooting competition. Each shooting spot has an assigned point value.

The two teams with the most points at the end of Round 1 will advance to the Final Round

The teams are:

— Team All-Star: Scottie Barnes, Chet Holmgren and Richard Hamilton;

— Team Knicks: Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Allan Houston;

— Team Cameron: Jalen Johnson, Kon Knueppel and Corey Maggette; and

— Team Harper: Dylan Harper, Ron Harper Jr. and Ron Harper Sr.

All three players on Team Cameron played at Duke, whose home court is Cameron Indoor Stadium. Ron Harper Sr. is the father of Dylan Harper Ron Harper Jr.

The eight-player field for the 3-Point Contest includes two past winners — Damian Lillard, the 2023 and 2024 winner and Devin Booker, the 2018 champion. Lillard is seeking to join Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as the event’s only three-time winners.

Lillard has not played this season because of a torn Achilles suffered during last season’s playoffs.

Four players will make their 3-Point Contest debuts: Knueppel, Tyrese Maxey, Jamal Murray and Bobby Portis Jr. Knueppel will try to become the first rookie to win the event.

The other players in the field are Donovan Mitchell and Norman Powell who are among the five 2026 All-Stars in the competition, along with Booker, Maxey and Murray.

In the two-round contest, players attempt to score as many points as possible from multiple 3-point locations within 70 seconds. The top three scorers from the first round advance to the championship round, where the highest score determines the winner.

Saturday’s events will begin at 2 p.m. and be televised by NBC and streamed by Peacock.

On Friday, the Rising Stars Challenge of rookies, second-year players and NBA G League players, the All-Star Celebrity Game, and HBCU Classic were played.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie shooting guard VJ Edgecombe was selected as the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge, making two free throws to seal the 25-24 victory by the Vince Carter-coached Team Vince over Team Melo at the Intuit Dome. Edgecombe scored a team-high six points.

In the first-to-25 game, Team Melo had taken a 24-23 lead when Stephon Castle tipped in a Jeremiah Fears miss.

San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Dylan Harper scored eight to lead Team Melo, coached by Carmelo Anthony.

Edgecombe scored 17 in Team Vince’s 41-36 semifinal victory over Team T-Mac, coached by Tracy McGrady.

Team Melo defeated Team Austin, coached by Austin Rivers, 40-34 in its semifinal with Portland Trail Blazers center Donovan Clingan scoring a game-high 13 points in the first-to-40 game.

Trent Middleton Jr. made two free throws with 0.4 seconds left to give NC A&T a 71-70 victory over Hampton in the HBCU Classic at the Kia Forum.

Actor Rome Flynn was selected as the MVP of the All-Star Celebrity Game, with 17 points and four assists, leading Team Giannis to a 65-58 win over Team Anthony at the Kia Forum.

Flynn was also the MVP of the 2025 game.

Former NBA center Tacko Fall had 20 points, 21 rebounds and five blocks for Team Giannis, which was coached by two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo along with his brothers Thanasis and Alex Antetokounmpo as well as Dodger shortstop Mookie Betts.

Former NBA star Jeremy Lin had 12 points and 15 rebounds, including an 8-point shot late in the fourth quarter for Team Giannis.

Chargers receiver Keenan Allen scored a team-high 18 points for Team Anthony, coached for actor Anthony Anderson.

The 75th NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to tip off at 2 p.m. Sunday on NBC and Peacock at the Intuit Dome with two eight-player teams of U.S. players and one of foreign players playing four 12-minute games, with the top two advancing to the championship final.
