The Monterey Avenue off-ramp of eastbound Interstate 10 in Thousand Palms was closed Friday for maintenance.
California Department of Transportation crews were performing pavement repairs, which began at 7 a.m. Friday, and were expected to conclude at 5 p.m.
Palm Desert officials warned motorists to be alert for signage and to reduce speed in the surrounding area.
The California Highway Patrol’s Indio station advised drivers to use alternate routes, including Bob Hope Drive to either Varner Road or Dinah Shore Drive.
