Operations were returning to normal Monday after Los Angeles International Airport and other local airports experienced a large number of flight delays over the weekend as blustery weather soaked Southern California and flights were restricted over the Caribbean as U.S. military forces arrested the leader of Venezuela.

According to the tracking website FlightAware, there were 607 delays and 39 cancellations at LAX on Sunday.

On Monday morning, the number was down to seven cancellations with 128 delays, but a total of 39 cancellations and 607 delays were logged at LAX on Sunday. according to FlightAware.

Other Southland airports also saw delays Sunday but few cancellations.

The reason for all of the delays was not clear, but in addition to rainy, windy weather in Los Angeles, other parts of the country were experiencing wintry weather and the United States imposed temporary restrictions on the airspace over the Caribbean on Saturday due to the U.S. military operation in Venezuela. Those restrictions ended as of Sunday.
