A big rig and a RV collided Friday on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Irwindale, prompting a SigAlert as the morning commute gets underway.
California Highway Patrol officers were called to the westbound freeway and the Irwindale Avenue South off-ramp at 4:41 a.m. Friday where the two large vehicles were involved in a collision, with the RV crashing through the freeway guardrail and landing in an embankment, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded to the accident, where one person was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of two lanes of the westbound freeway and the Irwindale Avenue off-ramp, Garcia said.
The SigAlert was switched to a traffic advisory about 10:30 a.m. but Caltrans crews remained at the scene repairing guardrail as of about 1:30 p.m., according to the CHP.
The cause of the collision was under investigation.
