Full overnight closures of the transition from the northbound Glendale (2) Freeway to the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway in the La Cañada-Flintridge area west of Pasadena begin Wednesday evening.
The overnight closures were to last through Friday, according to Caltrans.
The closures will allow crews to upgrade the existing lighting system, the agency announced, adding that additional overnight closures will occur nightly every Sunday night to Thursday throughout the summer.
This week’s closures start as early as 11 p.m. and last until 6 a.m.
Caltrans encourages motorists to allow extra travel time and to drive with caution in the area. Detour signs will be posted.
The schedule is subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
The work is part of a $22.7 million project to update the road’s lighting system to more energy-efficient LED technology.
