Police Friday requested the public’s help in locating a hit-and-run suspect responsible for severely injuring a 22-year-old man in Sylmar.
The collision was reported Wednesday around 9:15 p.m., when officers responded to the intersection of Sayre Street and Foothill Boulevard to conduct an investigation involving a pedestrian, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Detectives determined upon further investigation that a gray sedan was traveling northbound on Sayre Street before turning left and heading westbound on Foothill Boulevard, where a man was struck by the vehicle that continued traveling west on Foothill Boulevard without stopping to render aid.
“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police said in a statement.
The city is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of a suspect.
Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run collision was urged to call LAPD Valley Traffic detectives at 818-644-8036.
