A 38-year-old man suspected of shooting two victims in Huntington Beach moments before fleeing was taken into custody Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder.

Officers responded to the 7000 block of Mandrell Drive, near Oak View Center Park, on March 16 at approximately 8:50 p.m. to reports regarding shots fired, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Two victims were discovered at the scene suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators later identified Sergio Mario Guevara of Huntington Beach as a person of interest and deemed the shooting gang-related.

Guevara was arrested near Beach Boulevard and Warner Avenue on Thursday, while HBPD SWAT team investigators executed a search warrant in the 7800 block of Slater Avenue.

He was booked into the Huntington Beach City Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
