Police sought assistance from the public Tuesday in locating the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a bicyclist near the Jefferson Park area.

The rider was hit by a speeding dark-colored Jeep Wrangler around 10:50 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of 36th Street and Fifth Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” police said in a statement.
