Los Angeles Fire Department personnel rescued a man trapped down a 20-foot shaft in downtown Los Angeles.
The incident was reported about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of 2469 E. Washington Blvd., between Santa Fe Avenue and the Los Angeles River, according to department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.
The 34-year-old man was being transported to a local hospital in fair condition, Middleton said.
It was unclear how the man ended up down the shaft.
