A 41-year-old man killed on a Pomona street in an hit-and-run collision was identified Wednesday.
The crash was reported at about 10:55 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of West Mission Boulevard, near South Rebecca Street, Pomona Police Department Sgt. Paul Lucifora told City News Service.
Arriving officers found the man down in the road and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, Lucifora said. The victim died at the scene.
He was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Juan Monzon-Alay, who sustained blunt force injuries.
Officers got conflicting information from witnesses about whether the man was struck by a vehicle while on the sidewalk or was tossed from a vehicle, the sergeant said. A description of the vehicle was not immediately available.
Investigators planned to check surveillance video in the area to corroborate witness statements and get a vehicle description, he said.
The area was temporarily closed to traffic for the investigation.
