An arson suspect was in custody Saturday for allegedly setting a brush fire in Palos Verdes Estates.
The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department responded to a brush fire in the open parkland area west of the 1700 block of Paseo La Cresta around 11:33 a.m. Thursday, according to the PVEPD.
Officers located and detained a suspect nearby, the PVEPD said.
Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department quickly contained and extinguished the fire after approximately one-quarter of an acre of brush burned, authorities said.
No structures were burned and no injuries were reported, the PVEPD said.
The city of Palos Verdes Estates recently completed fire safety weed abatement in the area, which aided responders in containing the fire, police said.
PVEPD Officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of arson.
Details on the identity of the suspect were not available.
The PVEPD thanked a community member whose quick report helped officers respond to the scene within minutes and stop the fire with assistance from the LACoFD.
