A 26-year-old man was charged Thursday with stealing a vehicle used to haul aircraft and baggage at John Wayne Airport.
Skyler Jay Barr of Everett, Washington was charged with vehicle theft and vandalism, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor trespass at an airport security inspection.
Barr, who was a Delta Airlines passenger, left Gate 12 at the terminal and got onto the airfield Tuesday, according to a spokeswoman for the airport.
Barr was accused of stealing an Alliance Ground International tug, a vehicle used to tow aircraft and baggage. He crashed the tug assigned to Alaska Airlines into another vehicle at Gate 7, the spokeswoman said.
Barr was arrested by airport security as he attempted to steal an American Airlines truck, the spokeswoman said.
