An apparent firearm threat that turned out to be unfounded prompted a brief lockdown and police search Monday at a private school in Brentwood.
Located in the 16000 block of Mullholland Drive, the Berkeley Hall School entered a restricted lockdown mid-afternoon Monday. Several reports on the Citizen app indicated there had been a threat of a firearm on the campus.
Police responded and searched the campus, and determined the threat was an apparent “swatting” call, and no weapon was found, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The lockdown was lifted after about an hour, prompting the school to open its gates and allow worried parents in to retrieve their children. Parents flocked to the school upon receiving news of the threat, and created a long line of traffic stretching as far back as the 405 Freeway’s Skirball Center Drive exit.
