Authorities identified a man fatally shot while riding a bicycle in Santa Fe Springs.
The attack occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday in the 9300 block of Millergrove Drive, Whittier police Lt. Aaron Ruiz said.
Michael Ramirez, 52, died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. His home town was not known, Winter said.
It appeared that Ramirez had been riding his bicycle north on Millergrove Drive when he was shot, Ruiz said.
“Officers found the subject down on the sidewalk next to the bicycle,” Ruiz said. “He was deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.”
There was no suspect information and no apparent motive, the lieutenant said.
